St. Patrick's Day Fun!

Yesterday we had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day celebration with paper bag leprechaun puppets and green goodies to snack on. We even had Ms. Trout show her St. Patrick's Day spirit by dressing up like a leprechaun! Thanks to all the parents who helped out and we hope you all had a lovely St. Patrick's Day.

Miss Spider's Tea Party

We are learning about addition and subtraction in math. A great book that can help students learn about this is Miss Spider's Tea Party by David Kirk. We read this in class and acted out our own tea party. See if you can spot our Miss Spider sipping her tea among all her guests!

Some other recommended literature for math:

Subtraction Action by Loreen Leedy
The M and M Subtraction Book by Barbara McGrath
Arctic Fives Arrive by Elinor Pinczes (counting by 5s)
Spunky Monkeys on Parade by Stuart Murphy (counting by 2s, 3s, and 4s)

Long Vowel Sounds!

Hi,

Today we learned long vowel sounds. The students learned about silent magic "e". When there is a " e" at the end of the words below the "a" makes the long "a" sound.

Example of Words we learned:

make wave
bake cave
cake cape
take tape
lake

Silent magic "e" does its magic and makes the "a" long vowel sound.
