Kindergarten News
Kindergarten had a great week at school. We met Ticking Tom T from Letter land. The students have been learning many common sight words: to, the, they, did, do, me, my, he, hat and her. The students have improved in their writing skills and have been practicing writing nice and neat. Please help your child at home with writing the numbers 1-10.
Thank you for returning the homework folders and helping your child with their homework. In time, every student will be placed in a reading group and there will also be a book sent home to read for homework.
We did a very fun fall art project making colorful trees with paint and sponges. The students did a great job following instructions. Please send in an
oversized shirt for your child to wear for art projects. Please label your child’s name on the shirt.
If your child mistakenly brings home another students sweater can you please send it back to school. There is a school lost and found near the front office if your child has lost their sweater it may be there.
The students now have classroom jobs. They are learning to be accountable and responsible. Some of the classroom jobs are erasing the boards, name checker; making sure everyone writes their name on their work. Another job is tidying up our classroom library. The students have been very helpful and are learning how to be more independent in the classroom.
The class had their first Fancy Friday lunch. Thank you for bringing in the tablecloths and napkins. Fancy Friday is when the students pretend that they are eating their lunch in a fancy restaurant. This special lunch helps remind the students about good manners and it also builds our classroom community.
There is a kindergarten post office in the classroom where the students write letters and draw pictures to one another. Students can make a good choice after they complete their
seatwork. They can either send someone a letter or read a book.
Remember the Scholastic book orders are due on Thursday, October 15
th.
Have a wonderful long weekend.
Thank you,
Ms. Trout and Ms. D’Alfonso
